To be as ready as possible to finish those 100 km for the Oxfam Novib Trailwalker with our KEEN2Walk team, Laura started her own little challenge: Walk2Work twice a week and of course Walk2Home at the end of the day.
This 12 km walk a day is fun but also challenging, why walk when her usual biking is so much quicker and not walking means that she can stay in bed for an extra hour? But so far Laura manages weekly to walk on Tuesday and Thursdays. Please think of Laura when you wake up at 7 AM on Tuesdays and Thursdays when it’s ZERO degrees Celcius, rains and she just starting my Walk2Work.
The journey itself is pretty interesting as well, since Laura is living in the south of Rotterdam she crosses the Mass River by the Maastunnel. You have to take an escalator down, when you bike you take the escalator with your bike next to you. Also the great view of some of Rotterdam’s Touristic hotspots: Erasmusbrug, the cruiseboat hotel, Euromast and the Skyline of Rotterdam (also known as Manhattan on the Maas) makes it more bearable as well.
It’s also fun to see how 2 months ago it was pitchblack at 7 AM in the morning and now it is getting lighter and lighter every day.
Here are some impressions of Laura’s WALK2WORK.
