October 3rd: Walk and Bike to School Day

Our friends at Bicycle Transportation Alliance are gearing up for Walk & Bike to School Day on October 3rd. Last year more than 200 schools in Oregon participated, and as of today, there are more than 100 schools registered for the event. Check the list to make sure your school is participating. The next 80 schools that sign up will receive a box of helmets, stickers, and shoelaces to use during the event. Sign up today!

The Family Sponge is also encouraging parents to bike to school with their kids. Check out their latest post: 5 Reasons to Bike to School. Do you regularly bike or walk to school with your children? Are there any challenges that make it difficult for you? What would you do to encourage more families to participate?

The Bicycle Transportation Alliance is a non-profit membership organization working to promote bicycling and improve bicycling conditions in Oregon and SW Washington. Since 1990, the BTA has worked in partnership with citizens, businesses, community groups, government agencies and elected officials to create healthy, sustainable communities where bicycling is safe, convenient and accessible.
