Fall is here! Even though we’ve been enjoying unusually sunny weather at the KEEN HQ in Portland, change is upon us. Already, the leaves are falling and the air is getting crispier. Where will you be exploring this fall? Here’s a few ideas from some excellent bloggers to get you started.
Take a Harvest Moon Ride — Path Less Pedaled
The trail in full daylight doesn’t seem as long or as mysterious; it is an altogether different place when the sun is out. The magic of riding under the full moon is gone, but not forgotten. We are a little sad that we won’t be able to camp at Dodge Park for another year, but excited at the possibilities of other places night rides could take us.

Go on a Scavenger Hunt — Go Explore Nature
The summer-like weather does make it easy to spend time outside (at least, during the cooler part of the days). But it doesn’t help much for those of us eager to welcome in the new season and all of its unique gifts.
That’s where the Fall Nature Photo Scavenger Hunt comes in handy. It’s helping us pay closer attention to how fall looks and feels outside our own back door. Simply grab a camera, head outside and see what fall items we can check off the list.

Hike in the Mountains — Adventure Tykes
Woo hoo! Fall colors have arrived in the La Sal Mountains of Moab and they are simply spectacular. I LOVE Fall and all that comes with it…cool crisp mornings, snuggly sweaters, cozy boots, peppermint white mochas and especially, the amazing colors that nature exhibits. Every season we try and head up to the La Sal mountains to see what Mother Nature is displaying and this year, as always, it was amazing!

Collect Acorns — Let Children Play
Autumn is the perfect time to step into nature. Abandon the homework after school and on the weekend and for a few short hours step into the beauty to explore the changing world. Soon the leaves will all be golden, the air crisp and before the season passes us by too quickly, let’s all make sure we take a few moments to enjoy it…My daughter loves to collect acorns this time of year and often fills her pockets with them after school.

Visit a Farm— 52 Brand New
It doesn’t matter if you prefer apples or pumpkins. Every child should visit a farm in the fall. Most people buy their food prepackaged and so far away from where it is grown. Let children see just how apples grow in trees and pumpkins grow on the ground.
