KEEN Utility was in attendance for the recent Homes For Our Troops groundbreaking for Sgt. Josh Sweeney, a Marine who lost both of his legs and suffered severe arm injuries after a bomb exploded beneath him in NowZad, Afghanistan on October 28, 2009.
From September 1 through October 15, $5 from every pair of KEEN Utility boots that were sold from select retailers was donated to Homes for our Troops. This support allowed us to contribute to the building of Sgt. Josh Sweeney’s new home, as well as deliver comfort and peace of mind to other individuals who have sacrificed so much for our country’s safety.
“KEEN Utility as a brand is driven to innovate and create versatile safety footwear for hard working men and women,” said Chris Enlow, KEEN Care and Community Manager. “Finding a charitable cause to support that relies, in part, on the giving spirit of hard working craftsmen and volunteers was a perfect partnership for us. Through the generosity of our retailers it is our hope that we can help Homes for our Troops welcome home even more of our nation’s heroes.”
At KEEN Utility, the idea of safety starts from the ground up, and it’s our goal to help build a foundation for a new life for the service men and women who have already worked so hard for their country.
