This past weekend was the 25th anniversary of the Reach the Beach cycling event put on by the American Lung Association, to raise funds and awareness for their organization. Their mission is to save lives by finding a cure for lung cancer, improving lung health, and preventing lung disease.
But what makes this event so special? Not only is it considered the start of cycling season, but it’s also non-competitive and offers something for everyone, with routes ranging from 28 to 100 miles. Medical and mechanical teams support riders along the whole way, with snack stops and a massive beach party at the end.
Keeping the tradition going, KEEN Footwear had a team riding alongside 3,000 other participants and our friends at Lagunitas Brewing Co. helped our riders power along. Didn’t you know beer was the official drink of cyclists? Something about electrolytes.
Thanks again to the American Lung Association and amazing sponsors for putting on another great event this year. This year the event raised almost six hundred thousand dollars! And of course, big thanks to our friends at Lagunitas Brewing Co. for keeping our riders properly hydrated.
