KEEN Hiking Sweepstakes Winners Visit Portland

First of many dinners together!

First of many dinners together!

What happens when you combine a group of people from Tennessee, Japan, Canada, London, a KEEN Effect employee and an intern and put them in Portland, Oregon?

This is what our motley crew of KEEN Hiking Sweepstakes winners looked like as we tackled Portland, Oregon to explore all that this city has to offer.  In November of 2014, four winners plus their friends won the opportunity to visit KEEN Headquarters from the Follow Your Feet Sweepstakes, and we got the chance to host an awesome group of people this past week!

Anthony and Janis Denselow from London, England

This witty couple of Brits entertained us all weekend long with their accents and stories from the land of constant tea time.  They fell in love with the Columbia River Gorge and the quirkiness that encompasses the City of Roses.

Pamela and William ‘Larry’ Bouland from Tennessee, United States

In a second life, Pam worked here at KEEN because I have not seen a more enthusiastic fan of this company.  She totes an tremendous 16 pairs of KEENs (and counting) and because these two are nurses, they impressed/grossed everyone out with their medical stories.

Bonnie and Hillary Flynn from Ontario, Canada

This mother-daughter duo is originally from Newfoundland, an area that according to them has more moose than people! This was the farthest west both of them had ever been and were in awe of the natural beauty surrounding the area.

Risa and Miori Hayakawa from Tokyo, Japan

These amazing sisters were accompanied by our Japanese translator, Katsukuki Shibata from Eugene, Oregon.  But even without a translator, we could tell that they were having an amazing time!  They enthusiastically tried every type of food we threw at them and extended their trip in order to fully experience the Oregon life.

While the group was in our hands, we took them on tours of the KEEN Headquarters and of the KEEN Factory, as well as outfitting them with two free pairs of KEEN shoes to test out on the streets of Portland and the trails of Oregon.  We sampled homemade ciders in the Fruit Loop of Hood River, picnicked in the International Rose Gardens, and ate way too much of the famous Portland cuisine.  It was 4 packed days with an awesome set of KEEN fans.  Thank you!
