Last Thursday we launched our Live Monumental campaign outside KEEN HQ! Nearly a thousand people showed up to support national lands, drink Base Camp Brewing Co. beer, eat food cart goodies from Gastromania, ice cream from Northwest Creamery, and hot dogs because because it was National Hot Dog Day, of course! Most importantly, we gained over 700 signatures in support of #LiveMonumental, a campaign that aims to protect five locations and nearly 3,000,000 acres of public land.
We’re driving a vintage GMC MotorHome across the country, collecting 100,000 signatures and delivering them to D.C. in hopes of protecting five important areas of land—Owyhee Canyonlands in Oregon, Boulder White Clouds in Idaho, Gold Butte in Nevada, Mojave Trails in California, and the Birthplace of Rivers in West Virginia—by designating them as national monuments.
Our next stop is Las Vegas, to highlight Gold Butte and party with Zappos! Join us on Thursday July 30th as we team up with Friends of Nevada Wilderness to collect signatures and drum up more support! If you can’t join us on our road trip, please sign our petition and spread the word about #LiveMonumental!
