130 Mile Paddle to Benefit Disabled Veterans and the Environment

This week, a team of environmental activists, adventurers, and media professionals

are paddling the 130 mile stretch of the Columbia River from Portland, Ore to the Pacific Ocean.  They’re doing the trip in conjunction with two organizations that provide services to disabled veterans–the Disabled American Veterans (DAV) and Team River Runner.  Team River Runner uses paddling as physical and emotional therapy for recovering disabled veterans.

Portland’s DAV chapter #1 is one of the top chapters in the country, leading the way with innovative support programs for our returning troops.

The team will begin paddling today, August 31st, and will finish on Saturday, September 5th.
