Fridays at KEEN are always a little extra special. During the summer months, we take advantage of what we call “Hybrid Fridays,” which is basically our way of saying, “Get out of here at 3pm and start your weekend a couple hours early.”
Of course, this is no exception for us interns (KEENterns as we like to call it). Just this last Friday, we were sent out on a scavenger hunt to explore KEEN’s home city of Portland, OR. We were given a list of destinations to visit, along with two tips: #1 Look for people with KEENs on and hook them up with free shoes. #2 Use Instagram and Twitter to document the day.
We're turning our account over to the interns (aka #KEENterns) for the rest of the day. Try to be nice to them.

After lunch, we set out to our first stop: Salt & Straw, an incredible ice cream shop that is quickly becoming a Portland landmark. The ice cream was sure a nice treat on the first 90+ degree day of the year in Portland! We then stopped at a few different places around Portland, including the Organic Brewers Festival, Pioneer Courthouse Square and Mississippi Avenue.
During the course of the scavenger hunt, we were able to brighten up many people’s day by giving away some unexpected free pair of shoes. Overall, the day ended up being a great team bonding experience, and it certainly didn’t hurt to get out of the office for a few hours! Check out the pictures below to see more from our journey:
