Michael D. Barton

Michael D. Barton is a writer, historian (of science), and father of two in Portland, OR. When not exploring in local nature or visiting national parks with his 10 year old son and 4 year old daughter, he likes to share about how great connecting to nature is through his blog Exploring Portland’s Natural Areas and on social media. Michael also raises awareness about the importance of nature connection for kids by offering “Children at Nature Play” signs through natureplaysign.com and manages a related Facebook page, SLOW: Children at Nature Play. When wearing his historian’s hat, he is currently co-editing a volume of The Correspondence of John Tyndall, a Victorian scientist important in the history of climate change science.
